American Art has been enriched by the works of three men who nobly painted the Old West. In order of their entry to the scene they are Frederic Remington, Charles M. Russell and Frank Tenney Johnson. Remington recorded the days of deerskin jackets and Indian fighting. Russell painted the heyday on the cattle business.
Johnson's gentler, mellower art celebrates the spacious beauty of the of the range, the white moonlight, crimson-stained sunsets, the very twilight of the Old West and the burning heat of the sun-baked prairie. He sought to paint his subjects with simple sincerity and dignity. To look at them is to see pass in review this kaleidoscopic pageantry. Frank Tenney Johnson, cowboy artist, painted a west that except in his canvases, will never live again. The Edition is circa 1938 through 1947. Numbered and limited to 250. Frank Tenney Johnson N.A. Estate Seal and Certificate of Authenticity included.
